Charleston Tea Plantation

My Mother, and I traveled to The Charleston Tea Plantation which is located on Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. It is a 50 min drive from downtown Charleston, SC and is home to the American Classic Trea. Mom and I are big tea drinkers and this was our first time exploring how tea is made. The 127 acres of the plantation offer an impressive view of the process of making Oolong tea, green tea and black tea. There was not a lot of walking since free parking is close and there is Trolley Tour. The trolley ride is approximately 40 min long and very informative. When you first enter the visitor area there is a large gift shop with free samples of all sorts of hot and iced tea. Sample the tea after the trolley tour since there are no bathrooms on the tour. We had fun trying the teas and figuring out which one we liked best. The gift shop also has a large variety of other tea related items. Tea infused soaps and cooking oils were new to me. The factory tour starts at the back end of the gift shop and is included in the Trolley Tour ticket so be sure to check that out. Keep your eyes out for Waddy the Frog and his adorable photo opportunity.
